A loud shout was muffled within the walls of the Swan Tavern. For a moment the windows betrayed no movement but soon a flickering light came on before the solid oak doors burst open. A racing figure of a young girl ran through as Melly ran out into the early morning air. Her face was paler then usual as she gathered her skirts about her and stood out there. One hand placed on her chest as she tried to steady her breaths and remain calm. A chuckle came forth as another figure came to follow.
Kara could hardly contain the loud burst of laughter at her sister`s face. Twisted half with rage, but mostly fright. Her attention drawn back down to the rather large snake curled about her hand. A slight twinkle of amusement fled to her eyes as she reached a single finger down to stroke the calm reptilian head. Almost to herself she spoke
" Red to black you`r ok jack.....Red to yellow you be a dead fello"
Looking back up she smilled almost whickedly to her little sister as Melly spun about to glare at her sister. Her face turning from the pale white of one who was scared to a normal enraged young lady. In that matter her face was flushed almost as dark as the dark red blouse she was wearing at the moment. A fluid stream of obscene curses issued forth only adding to the laughter that was supplied by Kara. She reconized most of them to be her own fouled words picked up at a young age by palace guards and street lads. But this wasn`t helping the situation. Mally now in a full rage shouted.
What`s so darn funny Karelle! Is it simply the fact that you tried to kill me the first minute I find you by having a snake greet me? It`s not a thing to laugh about and it shows what a bad case you`ve allready mad of this place!
Trying to hold back her tears from flowing over from laughter Kara tried to steady her laughing. It was to the point where it was starting to hurt. Wiping her eyes with her free hand she chuckled one short last time before sighing to herself. The situation was just to perfectly ironic. Setting her new pet back into the house she turned about to the once again shocked face of her sister. Melly`s finger pointed at the thin serpent quickly darting into the house but Kara held up both hands and smiled saying.
Ok first off lets get all of you mistakes of this situation straightneed out. First off, I know mum and dad have had you locked up in a pink cusioned room for most of you life but I honestly thought you`d know a King Snake when you`d saw one. But obviously I haven`t polluted you`r mind with enough smarts yet. And second he`s not here by accident. I have a whole nest under the house taking care of my mouse and rabbit situation.
Melly`s eyes glowered for a moment and Kara read her thoughts perfectly. Melly had always been the girl sitting out in the garden with the field mice and rabbits. "Little fluffy friends" she had called them. So their parent found it strange how her older sister had always held onto a love with snakes and any ther type of animal that was the exact opposite of that description. They only had one thing in common and that was their hard headedness which was in ever lasting ammounts with them. Sighing Kara opened the door a little wider and ushered in her little sister who still glowered at her and had crossed her arms. But the morning chill was getting to her.
Kara sighed as the younger girl stepped forth and finally in. It was a relief that her sister had enough common sence to get her through a day or else Kara wouldn`t have even thought of telling her off her new ownership of the inn, Watching as her sister walked up to stairs to the upper rooms of the tavern she sighed. This was going to a long stay she knew it. Running her fingers through her long hair she sighed again and walked over to the counter and absent mindedly started setting out the mugs for the heavy work day she was going to be expecting.
